We invite you to discover our Montessori School, its history and the philosophy of the Montessori Method of Education.
Based in the heart of Dun Laoghaire, St. Nicholas Montessori School aims to develop the human potential in every child and qualities such as independence, self-confidence, self-discipline in a caring environment. We aim to provide children with a love and understanding of learning that will set them up for life.
“The environment must be rich in motives which lend interest to activity and invite the child to conduct his own experiences.” — Maria Montessori
In St Nicholas Montessori School, we offer a Montessori education for boys and girls of primary school age (2 and 8 months to 12 years).
Nearly every child has at least one unique strength or talent. We believe that a child is to be respected as an individual; each one possessing a wonderful and unusual sensitivity, as well as mental capacity, for absorbing and learning from the environment around them. The most important and formative years of a child’s growth are the first twelve years of life. It is during that time that the child has a deep love of, and need for, purposeful activity.
In addition to acquiring knowledge in areas ranging from practical life activities to math, science, language, art and cultural subjects, we educate the young child in a manner conducive to promoting self-respect, independence, self-confidence and critical thinking.
Multi-age grouping, a rich and extensive curriculum implemented with hands-on materials, cross discipline learning, care of the global environment and respect for moral values, are some of the characteristics that make up Montessori education.
Our teachers are dedicated to children’s education and believe that all children can learn and apply that knowledge to daily life. We welcome you to visit our school, where the total child is educated in a nurturing and beautiful environment in the heart of Dun Laoghaire.
Thank you for considering our school. We look forward to a future together!
